Know the Four Sections of GMAT Exam

If you are planning to take admission for any graduate management programs like MBA, Master of Finance and Master of Accountancy, your GMAT score can help you to get them easily. By qualifying GMAT, you can easily seek admission in some of the top rated management schools across the country. There are mainly four sections in GMAT exam and you need to be really fast in order to complete all the four sections within time. You will get 210 minutes to complete all the 4 sections. GMAT measures your writing, reasoning, quantitative and verbal ability skills. All the four sections are explained below:

Analytical Writing Assessment in GMAT:  

This section consists of a 30-minute essay that includes the analysis of an argument. Here, you are supposed to examine and analyse the argument thoroughly. You are also asked to criticize and provide different viewpoints for the given argument. Make sure that your grammar usage is correct and always support the argument with the help of examples. Try to include more writing assessment questions in your GMAT preparation schedule.

Integrated Reasoning (IR) in GMAT:

This section contains 12 questions and the time limit for this section is 30 minutes. IR section tests your analytical skills and measures how well you can solve certain complicated problems. In this section, supporting data will be provided in different forms. Many GMAT coaching centres provide special training in IR section to improve the analytical skills of the student.

Quantitative Section in GMAT:

This is the third section in GMAT exam and it consists of 37 questions. Quantitative section tests the math skills and you need to complete all the questions within 75 minutes. This section mainly includes questions from basic arithmetic, algebra and geometry. The quantitative section also has multiple choice questions, which comes under two categories namely data sufficiency questions and problem-solving questions. Try to include more quantitative questions in your GMAT preparation schedule to score good marks.

Verbal Section in GMAT: 

This section consists of 41 multiple choice questions, which can be from the three categories like reading comprehension, critical reasoning, and sentence correction. The total time allotted for verbal section is 75 minutes. The questions from reading comprehension part consist of a passage on a topic and some multiple choice questions based on that passage. There may be 14 critical reasoning questions with five answer choices for each question.
